Dysfunctional family's

In my opinion Hamlets family is far more dysfunctional. Because the Bennett's are so comparable to our society today it is easy to view them as a more clear minded family. Mothers passing there children off for marriage still occurs commonly today. Don't get me wrong there are many conflicts between mr. and mrs. Bennett that occur constantly but I would not call that dysfunctional thats too extreme of a word Arguments in families are almost common. Hamlet's family is clearly more dysfunctional between the Oedipus complex with his mother and uncle, and the death that occurs throughout the story makes the Bennett's seem normal.

Act III scene one 63-97

"To be or not to be" the most famous line in English literature. Hamlet is contemplating what to do. At this point Hamlet knows his uncle has killed his father. So in the soliloquy Hamlet is contemplating weather or not to kill himself out of frustration with the entire situation.

From the very beginning of the scene it is easy to spot Hamlets indecisiveness, so the best way to portray it would be to display a very unsure/uncertain Hamlet. Hamlet is clearly coming from a very dark place, placing him in a dark room by himself would only help further portray his indecisiveness making the scene dark and cynical. Further adding to the dramatics of the scene dressing hamlet in dark clothes only adds the dark place Hamlet is coming from. Very low lighting and hamlet speaking slowly and softly would only make it seem more dramatic.

In class scene

Clodus is super aggressive he is raw and tries to use brute force to brown nose hamlet. However hamlet responds very similarly to protect his name. Cloudus tries to convince hamlet that he must rest his mind and maybe go off to England. But all this does is further enrage hamlet, which is why he responds the way he does. So In order to demonstrate this new toughness we acted out this scene next to the construction giving mat a tough background to act in.
